So, Saturday afternoon, Erin and Collin drive to the hospital because the doctors are concerned about Erin's high blood pressure and freakishly swollen feet. She gets admitted later that evening, and we all go down to see her.
After about an hour there, dad and I decide that we want to go home since nothing is happening except minor contractions that she barely feels. Sunday morning, she's dilated to three, but the doctors aren't seeing much of a change, so they want to keep her around for a little while longer, and if nothing else happens, then they'll send her home. So we spent most of yesterday hanging around the hospital, waiting for a verdict.
Last night about 7, the contractions got worse, and she dilated to 4 or something, so the doctors decided to leave her at the hospital-now she can't come home until she has the baby. We stayed at the hospital until about 11 pm, and then headed home.
At 5 this morning, she was having major contractions and she was dilated to 5, so they put her on drugs. The family all showed up around 8, convinced that something was about to happen.
It's now 5:50 PM, and NOTHING has happened. Actually, that's that's not quite true. The doctors broke Erin's water, and she dilated to...6? 7? But still, nothing. So now dad and I are back at home, waiting for mom to call with some news. When we left at 5, nothing had happened-Erin and Collin had both fallen asleep, and Erin's so stoned out on whatever drug they've given her that she barely even knew what the heck was going on.
I consider myself to be a fairly patient person-especially when I have a book and a notebook with me. But two and half days in a hospital waiting room has tried my patience.
This is so NOT making me want to have babies.
